In 2000, Taekwondo (TKD) was officially introduced as an Olympic sporting event in Sydney. The fast-paced, full-contact Korean sport started growing rapidly in North America in the early 1950s. Saint-Lazare/Hudson TKD practices the WTF branch (World Taekwondo Federation), involving kicking techniques, cardio-vascular training and the option to compete at regional, provincial, national and international levels.
Saint-Lazare/Hudson TKD, also known as Centre d’Entraînement Haute Performance du Sud-Ouest (CEHP-SO), is a non-profit organization founded in Saint-Lazare in 1999. For 18 years, Saint-Lazare/Hudson TKD has trained over 2,500 students, from ages 5 through 75. We proudly trained and awarded a black belt to the youngest child in Canada – and with good reason. He then went on to win gold as a black belt in the Canadian Championships at the age of 8 in 1997.
Training is provided under the scrutinous supervision and meticulous teachings of Grand Master Sami Mazraani (8th dan), Master André Zaraa (6th dan) and the youngest black belt in Canada, Master Justin Hannon (now 5th dan). Ensuring an excellent student-to-teacher ratio, three or more instructors are always present, in addition to the aforementioned instructors, black belts Brandon Hannon (3rd dan) and Kim Tetley (4th dan).
Classes are given three times a week and additional fighting classes are offered for competitors. Come check it out!
